It's odd, how your sense of time changes when situations change. I know we've all been there, where time drags when you're waiting for something, and flys when you want it to slow down. But this is different....
My love is training with his National Guard unit, no more than a three hour drive away. Generally, he lives about an hour and a half's drive away. Because of the usual distance, we've been known to go weeks, or occasionally even months without seeing each other. He's been gone with his unit for seven weeks, and it feels like I'm never going to get to see him again. We've not seen each other for this long before, but somehow these weeks have been some of the hardest I've ever been through, mostly because of the not knowing.
But life goes on. The Oregon State Championship Feis is coming up soon, and hopefully I'll be competing, representing my school, The Tony Comerford School of Irish Dance. I only just started Irish dancing in January, and with the school in April, so I'm excited and nervous and have no idea how well I'll do.
My jig shoes have been ordered, and now I'm just waiting for them to arrive and pass through customs. I've had my reel shoes for a while now, and they're much fun.
School is going alright. I've got 13 credits this term, and will be taking 10 this summer, if all goes well. After summer, I'm done at PCC, and will be (hopefully) transferring to Portland State to do my upper division classes for a bachelors in physics.
The good news is that I'm going to England for the week between Spring and Summer terms. My roommate is taking me, and we'll be headed to Bath, London, Oxford, Cambridge, and to see Stonehenge. Eventually, I'd like to do some graduate work at either Oxford or Cambridge, so a school tour seemed in order.
